Membership Policy of the Durham Chorale
Auditions
New members do not have to prepare a formal audition but are required to sing a few warm-ups for the Director strictly for voice placement.

Music and Folders
A packet of concert music is lent to each member for the semester. Members are expected to mark the music with a pencil. Do not highlight or use non-erasable writing instruments on the music.
Members may borrow or purchase a black folder from the Librarian.
Music and borrowed folders are to be returned to the Librarian within 1 month after the last performance.
Section Leaders
Section Leaders are available to each voice part to answer questions about the music, lead section rehearsals, and pass on music marking to members who have missed rehearsals.
Choraleers
The Choraleers are a small auditioned subset of the Chorale. The group size is limited and auditions are held only for available openings prior to the beginning of regular rehearsals. Audition dates are announced on the web site. The attendance policy is the same as the Durham Chorale.
Ticket Sales/Fundraisers/Donations
Ticket sales, fundraisers, and donations provide the majority of the income for the Durham Chorale. Your enthusiastic efforts are extremely important to the economic health of the Chorale. All members are expected to actively participate in fundraisers and to sell tickets to the spring concert. Donations are always welcome and are tax deductible.
Concert Dress
Concert dress is very important in order to present a professional appearance to the community
Men – Black dress pants, long-sleeved pure white dress shirt, black necktie, black socks, and shoes.
Women – Long-sleeved pure white blouse, black long skirt or black dress pants, black shoes and stockings.
Prohibited items: Shiny jewelry, dangling earrings, bracelets and strong artificial or natural scents.
Questions regarding dress should be directed to Board members.
Social Activities
